West Bank Palestinians Face More Israeli Barriers And Misery After Gaza Ceasefire
Abdullah Fauzi, a banker from the northern West Bank city of Nablus, leaves home at 4 a.m. to reach his job by 8, and he’s often late. His commute used to take an hour — until Hamas’ attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, after which Israel launched its offensive in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military also ramped up raids against Palestinian militants in the northern West Bank, and diverted its residents through seven new checkpoints, doubling Fauzi’s time on the road. NOW IT’S GOTTEN WORSE. Since the ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and Hamas took effect, Fauzi’s drive to the West Bank’s...
Trump To Absorb Canada, Expressed Seriousness About Annexing It As U.S. 31st State
The United State President, Donald Trump in an interview aired on Sunday during the Super Bowl preshow expressed seriousness about wanting Canada to become the 51st state. “Yeah it is,” Trump told Fox News Channel’s Bret Baier when asked whether his talk of annexing Canada is “a real thing” — as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently warned. “I think Canada would be much better off being the 51st state because we lose $200 billion a year with Canada. And I’m not going to let that happen,” he said. “Why are we paying $200 billion a year, essentially a subsidy to Canada?” The U.S....

UEFA Considering Scrapping Extra Time in Knockout Stages
Reports from The Guardian Sports suggest that UEFA is planning to remove extra time from the Champions League knockout stages. UEFA wants to eliminate extra time and go straight to penalties to reduce the number of minutes top clubs play, especially with the growing fixture congestion. A final decision is unlikely now due to the current television rights cycle, which runs until 2027. It is unclear if UEFA will ultimately scrap extra time, but if they do, it might spark criticism, as extra time has always been one of the elements that bring excitement to football. Last season, the UEFA...
Chelsea Suffer Another Trophy Loss as They Crash Out of the FA Cup
Brighton came from behind to knock Chelsea out of the FA Cup. Chelsea took the lead in the 5th minute through Bart Verbruggen’s own goal. However, Brighton responded seven minutes later when Georginio Rutter calmly headed home a precise cross from Joel Veltman to bring his side level. Cole Palmer nearly restored Chelsea’s lead in the 30th minute. Christopher Nkunku carried the ball forward before setting it up for Palmer, but the England international failed to connect properly, heading the ball over the bar. Rutter caused problems for the Blues defence towards the end of the first half. He went...
