The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has released findings of its internal investigation into the recent train derailment along the Abuja-Kaduna train line. According to a press statement signed by Managing Director Kayode Opeifa, excessive speeding and misapplication of the emergency braking system were identified as the causes of the derailment, which he attributed to human errors. It could be recalled that the train derailment occurred on August 26, 2025, with 618 passengers on board, of which 21 sustained injuries.
