Edin Terzić Set For Athletic Club Role As Valverde Era Nears Its End

Edin Terzić is reportedly set to take over as head coach of Athletic Club once current manager Ernesto Valverde departs at the end of the season, marking a potential new chapter for the Basque side.

Terzić, best known for his time at Borussia Dortmund, built a strong reputation in Germany through a series of high-profile achievements across multiple spells at the club.

During his first stint in charge, he guided Dortmund to the 2021 DFB-Pokal title, securing silverware with a commanding 4–1 victory over RB Leipzig in the final. His early success established him as one of Europe’s emerging young coaches.

In 2023, during his second spell, Terzić came agonisingly close to winning the Bundesliga title, with Dortmund finishing level on points but missing out to Bayern Munich on goal difference after a dramatic 2–2 draw on the final day of the season.

He further strengthened his reputation in 2024 by leading Dortmund on an impressive UEFA Champions League run, taking the team all the way to the final at Wembley Stadium, where they ultimately fell 2–0 to Real Madrid CF.

While details of his proposed contract with Athletic Club have not yet been disclosed, the move is expected to signal a significant managerial shift for the Spanish side ahead of the new season.
