The draw for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers has officially been completed, setting up a wide-ranging and competitive qualification campaign across Africa. The format rewards both group winners and the best-ranked second-placed teams, meaning consistency across all matchdays will be crucial for teams aiming to qualify for the tournament.
The qualification matches will be played across three international windows. Matchdays 1 and 2 are scheduled for September 21 to October 6, 2026, followed by Matchdays 3 and 4 from November 9 to 17, 2026. The final set of fixtures, Matchdays 5 and 6, will take place from March 22 to 30, 2027.
Group A consists of Morocco, Gabon, Niger, and Lesotho. Group B features Egypt, Angola, Malawi, and South Sudan. Group C includes Ivory Coast, Ghana, Gambia, and Somalia, while Group D is made up of South Africa, Guinea, Kenya, and Eritrea.
Group E contains DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Zimbabwe. Group F includes Burkina Faso, Benin, Mauritania, and the Central African Republic. Group G features Cameroon, Comoros, Namibia, and Congo, while Group H consists of Tunisia, Uganda, Libya, and Botswana.
Group I includes Algeria, Zambia, Togo, and Burundi. Group J brings together Senegal, Mozambique, Sudan, and Ethiopia. Group K is composed of Mali, Cape Verde, Rwanda, and Liberia, while Group L includes Nigeria, Madagascar, Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau.
Tanzania have already qualified for AFCON 2027 as co-hosts, meaning only one additional team from Group L will qualify through the qualifiers. The same adjustment applies in other groups that include host nations, reducing the number of available qualification spots in those sections.
