Nick Woltemade could reportedly consider his future at Newcastle United this summer if his playing time does not improve, according to reports from journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his role, the German forward’s priority remains staying at the club. Woltemade is said to feel comfortable at Newcastle and maintains a strong relationship with manager Eddie Howe.
The 23-year-old joined Newcastle from VfB Stuttgart on August 30, 2025, in a club-record transfer worth a total package of £69.3 million. The deal included an initial £65 million fee plus £4.3 million in potential add-ons, while reports in Germany valued the transfer at €85 million with an additional €5 million in bonuses.
Since arriving at St James’ Park, Woltemade has featured regularly across all competitions, making a total of 45 appearances. In the Premier League, he played 30 matches, starting 21 times and coming off the bench on nine occasions.
He also featured in 10 UEFA Champions League matches and made five appearances in the EFL Cup.
Woltemade scored nine goals across all competitions during the campaign, including seven in the Premier League, one in the Champions League, and one in the EFL Cup. He also contributed three assists, all of which came in league matches.
Although speculation surrounding his future continues to grow, Woltemade is still believed to be focused on succeeding at Newcastle, with any potential decision likely to depend on his role heading into next season.
