Portugal have officially announced their squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Cristiano Ronaldo set to make his sixth and final World Cup appearance. The squad, selected by head coach Roberto Martínez, blends experienced leaders with emerging talents as Portugal prepare for a major international campaign.
The goalkeeping department includes Diogo Costa, José Sá, Rui Silva, and Ricardo Velho. In defence, Portugal have selected Diogo Dalot, Nélson Semedo, João Cancelo, Nuno Mendes, Gonçalo Inácio, Renato Veiga, Rúben Dias, and Tomás Araújo, offering depth across both full-back and centre-back positions.
In midfield, Portugal will rely on Rúben Neves, João Neves, Vitinha, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Matheus Nunes, Samuel Costa, and João Félix, providing a strong mix of creativity, control, and technical ability. The attacking options include Francisco Trincão, Francisco Conceição, Pedro Neto, Rafael Leão, Gonçalo Guedes, Gonçalo Ramos, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Notably, Mateus Fernandes and João Palhinha have both missed out on selection for the final squad. Head coach Roberto Martínez also confirmed that he approached Eli Junior Kroupi about representing Portugal prior to the March international break. However, Kroupi expressed his desire to represent France instead.
Portugal have been drawn into Group K at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they will face Colombia, DR Congo, and Uzbekistan.
