Barcelona are reportedly closing in on a major summer move for Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, with an agreement in principle said to be largely in place as talks progress.
According to reports from Miquel Blazquez, the Portuguese midfielder has reached a broad understanding with Barcelona over personal terms and is open to making a significant financial sacrifice to complete the move.
Silva is said to be willing to accept a major pay cut, reducing his current Manchester City salary by around 60 percent in order to facilitate a switch to the Camp Nou.
While an agreement between both parties is advanced, some final details still need to be resolved before the deal can be fully completed. Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is expected to have the final say on the transfer.
The German coach is understood to be open to the signing, but only under specific conditions, particularly if there are departures in midfield to create space in the squad. Players such as Marc Casadó and another midfielder could potentially leave on loan to balance the squad structure.
At present, Bernardo Silva would be the only midfield addition planned, with no other midfield signings expected unless unexpected changes occur. Reports suggest outgoing transfers are likely, which could pave the way for the deal to be finalized.
Barring any late complications, Bernardo Silva is expected to join Barcelona this summer as a free agent, marking one of the club’s most high profile midfield moves in recent years.
